Ningbo University (NBU) is a comprehensive teaching-and-research institution committed to nurturing first-class talents through its educational philosophy of “delivering students the right to choose.” It has taken a leading role in education reform and innovation in China.
To date, the university has cultivated more than 200,000 graduates, received First and Second Prizes in the National Teaching Achievement Awards, and achieved outstanding results in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions. Fourteen of its disciplines rank among the top 1% according to ESI.
In terms of campus distribution, the main campus is located in the North District of Ningbo's Higher Education Zone, while the Meishan Campus is situated on Meishan Island in Beilun, covering a total area of 3,117 mu (approximately 208 hectares). Additionally, the independent college—Ningbo University College of Science and Technology—operates a Cixi Campus spanning 796 mu (about 53.1 hectares).
Dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of the East Zhejiang School and promoting an innovative spirit, NBU also excels in international education, enrolling the largest number of international students among provincially-run universities in Zhejiang. It has established one Chinese-foreign cooperative-run institution, four joint educational programs, and two overseas Confucius Institutes. The university also promotes exchange and cooperation with Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, having signed inter-university academic exchange and cooperation agreements with 34 universities in these regions and carried out various exchange activities.
