International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship (Confucius Institute Scholarship)

Undergraduate Non-degree Master

一、Eligibility Criteria

1. Non-Chinese citizens;

2. Friendly toward China, with no criminal record, and abiding by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government as well as the rules and regulations of the host institution;

3. In good physical and mental health, with excellent moral character and academic performance;

4. Aspiring to pursue a career in Chinese language education, teaching, or related work;

5. Aged between 16 and 35 (as of September 1, 2025). The age limit for in-service Chinese language teachers is relaxed to 45.

二、Scholarship Categories and Application Requirements

1. Category of Application: One-Semester Advanced Student

2. Application Requirements:

1）Enrollment in March 2026, with a funding duration of 5 months.

2）Field of study: International Chinese Education, Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, Chinese Philosophy, or related fields.

3）An HSK (Level 3) score of at least 180, and possess an HSKK score.

三、Application Procedures

1. From now on, applicants can log in to the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) website and apply for the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship in the dedicated section.

2. Submit application materials online, and track the application status, review comments, and scholarship results. Applicants who wish to apply to our university must select Zhejiang University of Science and Technology as their first choice during the application process.

3. Applicants must also log in to the Zhejiang University of Science and Technology International Student Online Management Service System to submit their application online.

4. Scholarship recipients must confirm with our university and complete the procedures for studying in China.

5. Register and report at the university according to the date specified in the Admission Notice.

Application Deadlines (Based on Beijing Time):

For March 2026 intake: Student Application Deadline: October 31Review Deadline for Recommending Institutions and Host Universities: November 10

The Center will entrust a panel of experts to conduct a centralized review.

Scholarship review results will be finalized approximately 3 months prior to the start of the semester and will be announced.

四、List of Application Documents for International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship

1. Documents required from all applicants:

· (1) Scanned copy of the photo page of passport.

· (2) Scanned copies of HSK and HSKK score reports (valid for two years).

· (3) Recommendation letter from the head of a recommending institution.

2. Incumbent Chinese language teachers must additionally submit an official proof of employment and a recommendation letter from their employing institution.

3. Applicants under the age of 18 must submit a notarized guardianship authorization document signed by their guardian in China.

4. Applicants must also provide any other supporting documents required by the host university.

五、Information for Incumbent Chinese Teachers and "Chinese Bridge" Winners

Incumbent Chinese Teachers

When applying for any category of this scholarship,incumbent Chinese language teachers may submit an official proof of employment and a recommendation letter from their employing institution. All other factors being equal, priority will be given to these applicants.

"Chinese Bridge" Winners

Applicants who have received an"International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate" in any "Chinese Bridge" competition should log in to the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website, and submit their application documents to their chosen host university by presenting the scholarship certificate. 六、Additional Information

1. Applicants who have received a scholarship of the same category within the past 3 years will generally not be admitted for the one-semester study program.

2. Scholarship eligibility will be revoked in cases such as failure of the entrance medical check-up, unauthorized failure to register on time, taking a leave of absence, or withdrawing from studies.
