Recognized as one of China's "Eight Early Universities" in Architecture and Civil Engineering, Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT) has a long and distinguished history. Its origin can be traced back to 1895, and it took shape in 1956 through the integration of the departments of civil engineering, architecture, and municipal engineering from four different universities.

After nearly 70 years of construction and development, XAUAT has become a multidisciplinary university featuring civil engineering and architecture, environmental municipalities, materials metallurgy and related disciplines, with engineering and technology disciplines as the main body, and engineering, management, art, science, literature, law, philosophy, economics, education and other disciplines coordinated development. 

XAUAT boasts a faculty and staff of over 2,500, including 3 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and 1 member of the South African Academy of Science.

XAUA has established friendly and cooperative relations with more than 30 countries and more than 100 universities and institutions in China. It offers bachelor, master and Ph.D degree education to international students, as well as the non-degree education of Chinese language and Chinese culture. International Chinese Langauge Teachers Scholarship Scholarship, Shaanxi Sanqin Scholarship, Xi'an "Belt and Road" Scholarship,  Xi'an "Five Central Asian Countries" Education and Training program Scholarship and XAUAT Scholarship are available for international students.
