Program Overview
I. Program Positioning
The Department of Computer Science and Technology adheres to the vision of building a high-level, new-type university. It is positioned to serve China’s 14th Five-Year Plan and the Belt and Road Initiative, with a focus on Guangdong’s information industry. Targeting areas such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, and OpenHarmony (the HarmonyOS open-source operating system), the program cultivates high-caliber, application-oriented technical talent with the ability to solve complex problems, strong engineering application capabilities, and an international perspective. In recent years we have 737 undergraduates in this area.

II. Educational Objectives
This major cultivates well-rounded graduates with strong overall qualities in moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetic development. Students will master foundational knowledge in mathematics and the natural sciences, systematically acquire computer science theory, knowledge of computer software/hardware systems and applications, and develop solid engineering practice skills. They will be able to analyze, design, and implement solutions to complex engineering problems in the computing field. Graduates will possess good humanistic literacy, professional ethics, and a spirit of teamwork; demonstrate innovation awareness and a global outlook; keep pace with disciplinary developments; understand industry needs; and be qualified for research in computing as well as the design, development, and application of computer systems.

III. Program Specifications
Students mainly study the fundamental theories and knowledge of the computing field, receive essential training in methods for addressing complex engineering problems in computing, and develop basic competencies in computer system design, development, and application. This is a four-year, full-time program.

Upon graduation, students should possess the following knowledge and abilities:
1) Engineering Knowledge: Mastery of mathematics, natural sciences, fundamentals of computer engineering, and professional knowledge to describe, analyze, and solve complex problems related to computer systems and software/hardware design and development.

2) Problem Analysis: Ability to apply fundamental principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences to identify, formulate, and, through literature research, analyze complex computer engineering problems in computer systems and software/hardware design and development, leading to valid conclusions.

3) Design/Development of Solutions: Ability to design and develop solutions for complex computer engineering problems; design computer algorithms, modules, development processes, or software/hardware systems that meet specific needs; and demonstrate innovation in design while considering constraints related to society, health, safety, law, ethics, culture, and the environment.

4) Investigation/Research: Ability to conduct research on complex engineering problems based on computer science principles and scientific methods, including preliminary validation, experiment design, data analysis and interpretation, and synthesizing information to obtain reasonable and effective conclusions.

5) Modern Tool Usage: Ability to select and use appropriate software/hardware development environments and tools, as well as information retrieval and analysis tools, for software/hardware design and development and system analysis/design; to perform prediction and simulation for complex computer engineering problems; and to understand tool limitations.

6) Engineering and Society: Ability to conduct reasonable analysis based on knowledge of computer engineering to evaluate the legal, safety, health, ethical, and cultural impacts of computer engineering practices—such as software/hardware development and system design—and to understand the associated responsibilities.

7) Environment and Sustainable Development: Ability to understand and evaluate the impact of computer engineering practice on the environment and on social sustainable development.

8) Professional Conduct: Possess literacy in the humanities and social sciences and a sense of social responsibility; understand and abide by professional ethics and standards in computer engineering practice and fulfill corresponding responsibilities.

9) Individual and Teamwork: Ability to adapt to teamwork in multidisciplinary contexts and to competently perform various roles within a team, including requirements analysis, software/hardware design and development, and testing.

10) Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with peers in the industry and with the public about complex computer engineering issues; possess an international perspective and communicate across cultures.

11) Project Management: Understand and master principles of cost, schedule, scope, quality, and risk management, as well as economic decision-making methods for computer engineering projects, and be able to apply them in multidisciplinary environments.

12) Lifelong Learning: Possess autonomy and awareness for self-directed and lifelong learning; be able to read, compare, analyze, and synthesize computer science literature; identify problems in practice; and continuously learn new knowledge to keep pace with rapid developments in computer technologies.
IV. Faculty
This major enrolls the largest number of students at our university. There are currently 27 full-time faculty members, including:1)14 Professors 2)1 Senior Engineer 3)1 Lecturers
As student enrollment has increased year by year, the department has intensified efforts to recruit and cultivate high-level talent and to strengthen the development of key faculty members and teams.
V. Teaching Resources
As a newly established major, the college has invested nearly 60 million yuan in foundational discipline development. We have built multiple teaching laboratories, including the:
1. Computer Science Student Innovation Laboratory
2. Mathematical Modeling Innovation Laboratory
3. Advanced Computer Technologies Teaching Laboratory
4. Computer Principles Laboratory
5. Distributed Computing Teaching Laboratory
6. Information and Network Security Laboratory
7. Cloud Security Training Laboratory
8. Software Teaching Laboratory
In addition, three specialized laboratories have been established.
We have also jointly established:
• The Sino-German Industrial Security and Application Innovation Laboratory with Regensburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany)
• The Sino-German IoT Innovation Laboratory and the Sino-German Blockchain Application Research Center with Würzburg–Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences (Germany)
At present, the program has signed university–industry cooperation agreements with more than 50 enterprises and established 6 undergraduate internship bases, ensuring robust training of students’ practical and innovative abilities. We have also launched one university–enterprise cohort in collaboration with Zhejiang Dahua Technology.
