








Founded in 1909, Lanzhou University (LZU) is one of the first universities in China's modern higher education. As the national comprehensive university under the direct authority of the Ministry of Education, LZU is one of the universities supported by the "Project 985" and “Project 211”,and one of the national “Double First-Class” construction universities. Currently,a total of 14 disciplines has entered the top 1% of ESI,among which the chemistry reaches the top 1‰.
So far, LZU has recruited and educated more than 10,000 international students. Currently, there are more than 800 international students from more than 40 countries on five continents study at Lanzhou University, within which 80% are students studying undergraduate, postgraduate or doctoral programs. LZU has jointly established 3 Confucius institutes respectively in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Georgia.
The School of International Cultural Exchange (SICE) at Lanzhou University serves as the primary educational entity responsible for Chinese language instruction for international students at Lanzhou University. It also oversees the enrollment, management, and services for international students. With over 30 years of experience in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, has trained nearly 10,000 international students., more than half of whom were Chinese language learners. The school comprises three teaching and research sections for elementary, intermediate, and advanced Chinese language education, and has achieved significant accomplishments in both teaching and research. Additionally, it offers undergraduate programs in Chinese Language and Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL).
Beyond core language instruction, the school provides specialized courses and lecture series including Chinese Culture, Chinese Martial Arts, Chinese Calligraphy Art, Appreciation and Chanting of Chinese Classical Poetry, and HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) preparation.
SICE boasts a strong faculty for teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Approximately one-third of its faculty members hold senior professional titles, over half possess doctoral degrees, and more than two-thirds have international academic or professional experience. To date, 12 faculty members have engaged in Chinese language teaching and administrative work for over a year in regions spanning Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia.
Accommodation Conditions:
Chengguan Campus: Offers double rooms with shared kitchens and laundry facilities, costing 900 RMB per month.
Yuzhong Campus: Provides double rooms and quadruple rooms, with shared kitchens and laundry facilities on each floor. Double rooms cost 3000 RMB per semester, while quadruple rooms cost 1800 RMB per semester.
