On 29 July, the annual symposium themed “Reshaping Finance, Embarking on a Smart New Journey”, co-hosted by ACCA and the Shanghai National Accounting Institute, was held in Shanghai. Deng Hui, President of JUFE, was invited to the event and received the ACCA Excellence Award on behalf of JUFE.
Shao Nan, Director of ACCA China, presided over the opening ceremony and delivered a welcome address. Experts in finance and accounting, corporate executives and university representatives from across the country gathered at the venue. They focused on the transforming trends of the industry and jointly explored new approaches to cultivating international finance and accounting professionals.
At the award ceremony, Shao Nan presented the ACCA Excellence Award. Deng Hui stated that this honour represents high recognition from ACCA for more than two decades of cooperation between Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) and the institute. Since the launch of the cooperative programme in 2004, the university has cultivated nearly 3,500 international finance and accounting professionals. Several faculty members have been appointed as senior teaching advisors of ACCA. JUFE is also among the first universities in central China to obtain ACCA Platinum Accreditation.
Deng Hui pointed out that finance and accounting education in the new era should advance the in-depth integration of indigenous value co-creation and international education standards. It strives to cultivate practical finance and accounting talents who “understand international rules thoroughly, have a deep grasp of Chinese practices, uphold a strong sense of national identity, and possess strategic vision”, and develop a cohort of interdisciplinary professionals who are grounded in China’s development practices, able to identify institutional strengths, and proficient in using the universal international business language. He expressed the hope that based on the long-term collaboration with ACCA China, JUFE will continue to deepen talent development, build a distinctive education model with JUFE characteristics, and contribute JUFE’s strength to the innovation of international finance and accounting education.
