The University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) held its 2026 Opening Ceremony on the morning of September 6 at its Yanqi Lake Campus, officially welcoming a new cohort of students.

A total of over 21,000 new students joined UCAS this year, including 519 international students from 67 countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, and South America.

In his keynote address, Zhou Qi, President of UCAS, encouraged new students to carry forward scientific spirit and embrace a global vision. Science should serve as a bridge between civilizations, helping us jointly address the common challenges facing humanity.

At the same time, students are encouraged to tackle real-world challenges and demonstrate their lasting commitment to scientific and technological innovation.

Drawing on its distinctive research-education integration system, UCAS is dedicated to equipping students with a solid foundation for future research, while fostering their innovative spirit, pragmatic attitude and sense of social responsibility.
