9月14日至16日，英国雷丁大学副校长Caroline Baylon，雷丁大学东南亚事务助理副校长、雷丁大学马来西亚校区校长兼首席执行官May Tan-Mullins博士率代表团来我校开展校际交流。访问期间，代表团出席了雷丁学院联合管理委员会会议、两校校际合作研讨会，并参加了雷丁学院2026级本科新生见面会。我校校长陈海山、副校长章炎麟出席相关会议及活动，国际处与雷丁学院相关负责人参加会议。
From September 14 to 16, Caroline Baylon, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Reading, and Dr. May Tan-Mullins, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Southeast Asia at the University of Reading and President and CEO of the University of Reading Malaysia, led a delegation to Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) for inter-university exchanges. During the visit, the delegation attended the Joint Management Committee (JMC) meeting of the Reading Academy, the inter-university cooperation seminar between the two universities, and the 2026 undergraduate freshmen welcome meeting of the Reading Academy. NUIST President Chen Haishan and Vice President Zhang Yanlin attended the relevant meetings and activities, with representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the Reading Academy also participating.
在雷丁学院联合管理委员会会议上，陈海山对雷丁大学一行的到来表示热烈欢迎，并对雷丁大学建校百年表示衷心祝贺。围绕深化两校战略合作，他提出四点意见：一是稳步扩大办学规模，切实发挥规模化办学的集聚效应，夯实学院可持续发展的根基；二是加快推进双博士学位项目落地实施，科学制定学生遴选机制，同步落实专项奖学金及配套支持政策；三是强化有组织科研合作，依托双方在大气科学、环境科学及信息工程等优势学科领域的深厚积淀，协同共建具有国际影响力的高水平科研平台；四是多渠道拓展师生双向交流机制，在持续深化与雷丁大学主校区合作基础上，探索与雷丁大学马来西亚分校联合举办暑期学校、短期研修项目及学分互认型游学活动。会议期间，JMC成员就办学规模、专业拓展、博士项目、师生互访、科研合作等具体事项达成多项实质性共识。
At the Joint Management Committee meeting of the Reading Academy, Chen Haishan extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the University of Reading and congratulated the University of Reading on its centenary. Regarding the deepening of strategic cooperation between the two universities, he put forward four proposals: first, to steadily expand the scale of the joint educational program, fully leverage the clustering benefits of large-scale education, and consolidate the foundation for the Academy’s sustainable development; second, to accelerate the implementation of the joint doctoral degree program, establish a scientific student selection mechanism, and simultaneously introduce dedicated scholarships and supporting policies; third, to strengthen organized research collaboration and, drawing on the two universities’ strong academic foundations in atmospheric science, environmental science, information engineering, and other disciplines, jointly develop high-level research platforms with international influence; and fourth, to expand two-way faculty and student exchange mechanisms through multiple channels. On the basis of continuously deepening cooperation with the University of Reading’s main campus, the two sides will explore jointly organizing summer schools, short-term study programs, and credit-bearing study tours with the University of Reading Malaysia. During the meeting, JMC members reached a number of substantive consensuses on specific matters, including the scale of the joint program, program expansion, doctoral programs, faculty and student exchanges, and research collaboration.
在校际合作研讨会上，章炎麟对雷丁大学代表团的到访表示诚挚欢迎。他表示，两校合作已步入新的十年发展阶段，雷丁学院办学成效显著，已成为我国中外合作办学领域的示范性机构，也是我校与雷丁大学国际合作的标志性成果。迈入合作新阶段，双方正式签署博士联合培养协议，贯通本科、硕士至博士的全周期人才培养体系，标志着两校合作实现从规模拓展向质量跃升的战略转型。建议双方以博士联合培养项目为重要支点，持续深化学科共建、科研协同与高层次人才培养等重点领域合作，切实推动合作成果落地见效、提质增效。
At the inter-university cooperation seminar, Zhang Yanlin extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the University of Reading. He noted that cooperation between the two universities has entered a new decade of development, and that the Reading Academy has achieved remarkable results and become a model institution in the field of Sino-foreign cooperative education in China, as well as a landmark achievement of international cooperation between NUIST and the University of Reading. As the partnership enters a new stage, the two sides have formally signed an agreement on joint doctoral training, establishing a full-cycle talent development system spanning undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral education. This marks a strategic shift in the partnership from expanding its scale to achieving a higher level of quality. He proposed that the two sides take the joint doctoral training program as an important pillar and continue to deepen cooperation in key areas, including joint discipline development, collaborative research, and high-level talent cultivation, to ensure that cooperation outcomes are effectively implemented and further enhanced in quality and efficiency.

Caroline Baylon expressed her sincere appreciation for NUIST’s long-standing and steadfast support for the development of the Reading Academy. She noted that Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology is one of the most important partners in the University of Reading’s global strategic partnership network. The University of Reading will continue to increase its investment of resources in areas including faculty sharing, joint curriculum development, and research collaboration, and looks forward to further expanding the depth and breadth of cooperation with NUIST to jointly enhance the quality and international influence of the joint educational program.

At the 2026 undergraduate freshmen welcome meeting of the Reading Academy, Caroline Baylon delivered remarks on behalf of the University of Reading. She warmly welcomed the 2026 undergraduate freshmen and reviewed the two universities’ 17 years of deep and fruitful cooperation, encouraging students to remain curious and eager to learn, make full use of the resources offered by both universities, and bravely embrace the challenges of international learning while gaining knowledge, friendship, and personal growth. Zhang Yanlin noted that the University of Reading is an important global partner of NUIST and encouraged all freshmen to remain committed to their country, study diligently and work hard, embrace a global outlook, and strive to become outstanding talents capable of making their mark on the international stage.

This visit further consolidated the foundation for cooperation between the two universities and deepened mutual understanding and strategic trust.
