2026 International Graduate Program of Henan University of Chinese Medicine

1.  About HUCM

Henan is a major birthplace of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). It is the hometown of Zhang Zhongjing, the sage of TCM. It is also the place where three classic TCM works, namely "Huangdi Neijing" (The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon), "Shanghan Zabing Lun" (Treatise on Febrile and Miscellaneous Diseases), and "Shennong Bencao Jing" (Shennong's Classic of Materia Medica), were compiled. Henan is rich in Chinese medicinal materials, with more than 2,780 varieties. Both the number of varieties and the output rank third in China. In addition, Henan is the birthplace of Chen-style Taijiquan.

Henan University of Chinese Medicine is located in Zhengzhou, Henan Province. Founded in 1958, it is one of the higher TCM institutions established relatively early in China. It is jointly built by the Henan Provincial People's Government and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a university in the National Midwestern Higher Education Revitalization Plan, and a university for cultivating international students with Chinese government scholarships approved by the Ministry of Education. It serves as the leading center for TCM talent cultivation, scientific and technological innovation, medical services, social services, and cultural inheritance in Henan Province. Over the past 60 years, the university has developed from a single TCM discipline to a comprehensive university with coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as medicine, science, management, engineering, and liberal arts, covering multiple training levels and categories including undergraduate, postgraduate (doctoral and master's), international students, and continuing education.
