INTRODUCTION TO SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND NURSING

Hangzhou Normal University is one of the oldest universities in China which set up nursing program. The h is tor y of Public Health And Nursing School can be traced back to Zhejiang Guangji Nursing School established in 1917. The school is characterized by a long history of international collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) since undertaking China nursing education reform program in 1991.

The School started the nursing program for undergraduate students in 2003, obtained the master degree granting in 2006, and began the nursing program for undergraduate international students in 2016, and initiated master program for undergraduate international students in 2020. There has been around 80 full -time undergraduate and postgraduate international students from more than 10 countries, such as Zambia, Nigeria, USA, Malaysia, Belize and Germany.

Program Objectives

Graduates will have an international perspective and overall health concept; systematically master the basic knowledge of medicine; master the basic theory, knowledge and skills of nursing, humanities and other related disciplines; have preliminary clinical work, teaching, management and research competences; have the awareness of quality improvement and patient safety protection as well as lifelong learning competence and provide patients with evidence -based holistic care; become professionals who are competent in nursing in various health care institutions.

Faculty Team

The school has formed an internationalized faculty team with nearly 90% teachers having doctor degree and nearly 73% teachers having overseas study or visiting scholar experiences in the USA, UK, Canada or Australia. The school also sets up a part-time teaching team from 15 hospitals and 10 community healthcare centers. Based on the international collaboration platform, the school also has a foreign teaching team participating in the classroom teaching for both undergraduates and postgraduates.

Ø Characteristic Course - Nursing

Care With Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) The course introduces the basic theory, principle and skills of TCM, and its integration with modern nursing and holistic care. Acupuncture, cupping, massage and scraping are the characteristics of the basic skills of TCM nursing.
