





Established in 1952 in Nanning, Guangxi Minzu University is a higher education institution co-developed by the National Ethnic Affairs Commission and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It has cultivated over 380,000 ethnic cadres and professionals for the nation. The university currently operates three campuses—Xiangsi Lake Campus, Siyuan Lake Campus, and Wuming Campus—spanning a total area of 3600Mu(about 240 hectares), with a faculty and staff of more than 2,600. It comprises 28 academic schools, hosting over 43,000 full-time students.
The university offers a comprehensive range of disciplines, with 84 full-time undergraduate programs. It houses one postdoctoral research station, five first-level doctoral degree programs (in Ethnology, Chinese Language and Literature, Foreign Language and Literature, Chemical Engineering and Technology, and History of Science and Technology), 20 first-level master's degree programs, and 26 professional master's degree programs, Engineering and Chemistry disciplines rank within the top 1% globally by ESI.
Guangxi Minzu University has a long history of international engagement, with a distinct and productive focus on ASEAN-oriented global education. Since 1964, it has pioneered the teaching of Vietnamese and Thai languages, making it becomes the earliest and most extensive provider of ASEAN language programs in Guangxi. Currently, it offers seven undergraduate programs in Non-common languages of ASEAN: Vietnamese, Laotian, Thai, Cambodian, Burmese, Indonesian, Malay. The university hosts the nation's most extensive Vietnamese Literature Center, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Thai Language Resource Center, and ASEAN Documentation Center. It is also recognized as one of the first national bases for cultivating non-common foreign language talent and one of the first Country and Regional studies bases established by the Ministry of Education.
The university has established exchange and cooperation relationships with 192 universities and institutions across 26 countries and regions. To date, it has enrolled over 27,000 international students from 85 countries and regions and sent nearly 20,000 students abroad for studies. Actively promoting international Chinese language education, the university has established three Confucius Institutes in Thailand, Laos, and Indonesia, training more than 400,000 Chinese language learners in ASEAN countries.
In recognition of their contributions, the university has conferred honorary doctoral degrees to former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith. Several distinguished ASEAN dignitaries, including former Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk, former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, former Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong, Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith, former Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh, and current Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, have visited the university.
The university offers single rooms, double rooms, and quadruple rooms for international students to choose.
