To implement the requirements of the “Healthy Youth Journey” 2026 Summer Social Practice Program of Beijing Sport University, foster patriotism among young people in the new era, broaden their international perspectives, and promote mutual learning between Chinese and international youth through practical education, the “Riding Together by the Sea” Chinese and International Youth Sports and Culture Practice Team, consisting of 12 students from China, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Pakistan, and Iran, accompanied by two faculty advisors, will travel to Qinhuangdao for a four-day summer social practice program.

Nestled between mountains and the sea, Qinhuangdao offers a unique combination of educational and practical opportunities. The city is home to the Qinhuangdao Training Base of the General Administration of Sport of China, widely known as a “Cradle of Olympic Champions.” With numerous national teams conducting training there, the base provides an important opportunity to explore elite competitive sports and sports science education.

Qinhuangdao is also home to Laolongtou (Old Dragon’s Head) at Shanhaiguan, where the Great Wall meets the sea, reflecting the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Great Wall National Cultural Park. Meanwhile, as a pilot city for coastal sports development, Qinhuangdao features Olympic-themed public spaces and coastal fitness facilities in Beidaihe, making it an ideal destination for investigating national fitness initiatives and the integrated development of culture, sports, and tourism.

These distinctive sports resources, historical landmarks, and coastal landscapes provide Chinese and international students with a comprehensive learning experience integrating “Sports Education + Cultural Exploration + Social Research + Youth Dialogue.”

Building on their academic strengths in sports, the team will visit professional training facilities, explore historical sites along the Great Wall, and investigate public sports spaces along the coast. A series of practical activities, including discussion sessions, sports facility surveys, questionnaire collection, and cultural sharing, will be organized.

Since preparations began, the team has held several planning meetings to refine the itinerary, clarify responsibilities, and improve safety contingency plans, laying a solid foundation for the upcoming trip.

In addition to fulfilling their individual responsibilities, team members have worked together to refine the overall travel plan, confirming the daily destinations and transportation arrangements for August 13–16.

The team has also reviewed reservation requirements for each destination, identified alternative locations to accommodate possible changes, and improved safety and emergency response plans tailored to summer outdoor activities and coastal visits.

A daily check-in and reporting mechanism has been established to ensure that all activities are conducted safely and efficiently.

III. Fully Prepared, Ready for the Journey | Pre-Departure Messages

As departure approaches, the team is conducting final checks on personnel coordination, material preparations, venue reservations, photography assignments, and safety procedures.

Faculty advisors Cao Dingke and Zhou Yaohu have communicated with team members online to clarify the program's objectives and disciplinary requirements. They also shared four expectations for the upcoming journey.

First, pursue knowledge through practice and integrate theory with action.

Participants are encouraged to make the most of this valuable opportunity to learn beyond the classroom. Through observing training sessions, exploring Great Wall heritage sites, and conducting coastal field research, students should develop their ability to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world observations.

Second, build on professional expertise and conduct meaningful research.

Students should fully utilize their knowledge and skills in sports-related disciplines, carefully carry out national fitness questionnaires and sports facility research, and strive to produce authentic, meaningful, and valuable research outcomes.

Third, promote cultural exchange and demonstrate the spirit of youth.

Taking advantage of this opportunity for Chinese and international students to learn and work together, participants should actively engage in intercultural communication, share compelling stories about China, and demonstrate the positive spirit and character of Beijing Sport University students.

Fourth, uphold discipline and prioritize safety.

All participants must follow the team's arrangements and must not leave the group without permission. Given the summer weather and coastal environment, students should take appropriate sun protection measures, wear comfortable clothing and footwear, and promptly report any emergencies or unexpected situations.
